Even if you exercise in the evening after a long office day, you are at risk of health problems due to long sitting. Therefore, it is important to include exercise moments that interrupt prolonged sitting.
Encourage movement by changing the way you work during the working day. Consider making phone calls standing up, walking to a colleague instead of sending an e-mail, taking the stairs instead of the lift. You can also walk for lunch or have walking meetings.
Tools for remembering breaks
Do you struggle with taking short breaks or micro-breaks while working? Especially during a busy period or when work requires high concentration, it often slips through. There are several break aids on the market that remind you when it is time for a break. For instance, you can use break software or hardware. The R-Go HE Break is an example of pause hardware. This is an ergonomic vertical mouse that uses colour signals (through LED lighting) to give pause advice.
